According to Wikipedia:

Elmer J. McCurdy (January 1, 1880 – October 7, 1911) was an American bank and train robber who was killed in a shoot-out with police after robbing a Katy Train in Oklahoma in October 1911. Dubbed "The Bandit Who Wouldn't Give Up", his mummified body was first put on display at an Oklahoma funeral home and then became a fixture on the traveling carnival and sideshow circuit during the 1920s through the 1960s. After changing ownership several times, McCurdy's remains eventually wound up at The Pike amusement zone in Long Beach, California where they were discovered by a film crew and positively identified in December 1976.

Behind The Lens

Location

Taken in the Boot Hill area of Summit View cemetery in Guthrie, Oklahoma.

Time

Taken in late afternoon/early evening hours, fall day.

Lighting

Natural lighting provided by the evening sun.

Equipment

This image was taken from n an iPhone SE, also have one taken on 35mm using an older slr.

Inspiration

Initially heard about this gentleman on a show about oddities in movie and show sets, then at a museum in Guthrie, and heard he was eventually buried in the cemetery and decided I’d see how his grave was set up, he’s buried next to another famous outlaw.

Editing

Not altered other than adding to internet.

In my camera bag

At the time, the phone was my primary means of pictures, and have a Minolta SRT as a backup camera for less ne’er shots. Have since upgraded to a Canon T7i and considering updating pictures like this one.

Feedback

Have fun, use imagination, what is intriguing to you? This was just a spur of the moment intriguing image and had the sun in a perfect spot to not cause a glare or block the shot some other way.
