Location
This was taken in my home of my rescued MaineCoon cat Narci.Time
It was in the afternoon and he was really very pensive and photos were coming out great and I love shooting in B&W at this time of day.Lighting
We have large windows and the light comes into our living area - he was on the back of he sofa and the natural light was awesome for details.Equipment
Just my camera that I keep out and grabbed and kept shooting until the light was gone.Inspiration
I am a volunteer pet photographer for rescues and shelters and always looking for new angles to shoot to bring out the spirit of each animal and my rescues are the perfect subjects.Editing
There was some involved to get the details of the eyes and fur to pop - but just mild enhancements to what was already there...In my camera bag
When shooting pets I keep all my camera equipment (18-135 mm and zoom lens, filters, tripods, etc) and toys - squeaky toys, feathers, string etc.Feedback
Try to wait until your pet or the pet you are shooting is comfortable - take time to set up the shot whether outside or inside, but also look for that unexpected one - they are just sitting there or doing something unique that captures their essence.
