Location
This photo was taken from the bank of Swinomish channel, in La Conner Wa. USATime
It was taken at mid afternoon on a high overcast, northwest day.Lighting
The sky provided a natural soft light.Equipment
I used a Sony a7rii, with a Sony G 24-105 mm @ 46 mm, f/4.5, ISO100, 1/100 sec. The shot was hand held.Inspiration
The Swinomish channel is maritime highway. Moored on the La Conner side, are yachts and fancy sailboat. On the other side of the channel, live the Swinomish people, who've both fished and harvested, from the surrounding bays and estuaries, for a thousand moons. These Native Americans, are the subsistence, commercial fishermen, who tie their skiffs to the gritty piers, that reflect their existence..Editing
Very little post processing was done to this image. It was originally shot in color and I used a program called Tonality, to transform the image into a B/W photograph. In my camera bag
It depends on the situation... If I'm at a parade, I'll bring an AF zoom lens... I like to shoot landscapes, and I prefer manual lenses. When shooting landscapes, I usually pack couple wide angle lenses and a standard lens, sometime a short telephoto. I use both Zeiss Loxia and Voigtlander lenses, so I always pack ND filters in both 3 and 6 stops, and CPL filters in 52 and 58 mm.Feedback
I always pack a camera and I shoot a lot photographs. I always try to be prepared, thinking about what I'm attempting to do, before I do it.
