Behind The Lens

Location

This was taken in a local park.

Time

most of my photos are taken during the day as that is the only time I have to wander.

Lighting

this is natural lighting...there was a single beam of light coming through the surrounding branches of the tree, highlighting this visitor to it's boughs.

Equipment

I use a Canon camera (always!) and Canon/ Tamron lenses. Seldom do I use a tripod as that does not allow me to wander freely.

Inspiration

I've always been fascinated by the simple things...a single leaf lying on a random branch of another tree (a flutter from another mother, so to speak). The light was just right, and the dew drops added to the dimensionality of the photo.

Editing

some simple adjustments to clarity/color/crop, but otherwise no other alterations were done.

In my camera bag

My bag is fairly simple...too much equipment ends up being more weight than usefulness as I like to travel light. Just a camer body and one or two lenses (for landscapes and zoom shots)

Feedback

I always recommend up and coming photographers to learn from what's around you first...look for anything that catches your attention (it may also be of interest to others who follow your work). Try different angles with your subject (up high or down low, from the back or from the side, in sunlight or the shade of a tree or building). Nothing is too simple to photograph.
