Very nice shot, great timing, great framing and exposure. A pleasure to look at.

Behind The Lens

Location

I took this photo behind a factory I used to work at just north of Little Rock Air Force Base. I always enjoyed seeing the c130s fly in the area and just happened to walk behind my work just in time to snap this shot.

Time

I remember I was just about to get off work when I took this photo. I walked out back to take some scrap metal out to the dumpster and heard the first c130 fly over head. So, I hurried lay down the scraps so I could get my phone out to take a shot. I snapped maybe 5 or 6 shots before I heard my boss behind me ask "what are you doing?" In an irritated tone of voice.

Lighting

No, this was just one of those shots that happened in the moment. I didn't plan it or even think about it, I just snapped the shot.

Equipment

Samsung Galaxy S9+ auto settings

Inspiration

Up to the point of taking this photo, I had probably taken about 1000 shots aircraft in the area. I never really planned any of them I would just pull out my phone and take a picture when I would see them in the sky.

Editing

I sometimes do post-processing on photos, nothing major usually. I like to do a lot of the landscape photography. So when I do post-processing, I will add contrast to add definition to plant life, or add saturation to get better separation of colors.

In my camera bag

I usually don't carry a camera bag, but when I do it has a GoPro and a couple extra batteries in it . I like to use it for night shots, time lapses, and logging travel. What I do usually carry is my cell phone, and it's what I shoot 99.9% of my photography on anymore. My favorite phone camera I've had is the Samsung Galaxy Note 10+, because of the super-wide angle lens and pro settings.

Feedback

If you're trying to get a good shot of anything, don't expect to capture it on the first try. Take as many photos as you can, because it's sometimes hard to tell in the moment what photo is going to be the one you want. I've taken many photos I thought were good in the moment and later realized that the photo wasn't what I thought. The same is true in reverse. I have had photos I didn't like in the moment. It wasn't until I looked back at them later that I realized they were some of my favorites.
