Behind The Lens

Location

This photo was taken in September in Xinjiang, China during one of my bike trips. We were heading to Baiyiwuxiang , south west of Urumuji, the capital of Xinjiang to try see the migrating swans .

Time

It was around noon, usually not the best hour for photos but we were so far north , it did not really matter .

Lighting

The scene just looked beautiful . The light at this angle lighted up the mountains and lakes perfectly .

Equipment

Handheld, Nikon D70 with Nikkor 18-70 mm F3.5-4.5

Inspiration

This location showed a summary of the terrain we went through - desert-like sands, water, snow ( yes, even in September) and really beautiful crisp skies everywhere you look .

Editing

No.

In my camera bag

Now I have my D850. Nikkor 24-70 f/2.8, Nikkor 70-200 f/2.8, Sirui tripod

Feedback

I was advised earlier that most times we do not get to shoot what we want because of so many varying factors , so we should shoot what we get ! When you see a scene that appeals to you, just start shooting . A lot.
