Behind The Lens

Location

This shot was taken at Clegg Gardens in Lafayette, IN. There was a pile of rubble from a recently demolished building.

Time

It was around midday, maybe 3PM on a sunday. We had some free time and decided to take a nice walk on a nature trail!

Lighting

The weather was absolutely perfect for a nice hike with some friends. My friend Danny (the subject of this photo) was exploring on the ruins and I ended catching this moment at the perfect time!

Equipment

This shot was taken with my Nikon D5000, using a Nikkor DX 18-55mm lens. And nature’s perfect lighting of course!

Inspiration

It was honestly just a spur of the moment shot! I was inspired by being around people I loved and just having a great time while taking some photos.

Editing

Yes , this was a while ago but I would say I upped the brightness and contrast a little bit. I was just getting started in my journey of photography during this shot, so my editing was fairly novice.

In my camera bag

I don’t usually have anything but my camera on my nature photography sessions surprisingly. I’ve gotten really good at my post editing, which really brings my photos together well.

Feedback

I would tell anyone who is just starting to find their love for photography, that the #1 thing I do is to have fun doing it! Let it come to you, many of my best shots are from when I was just going with the flow and the moment appeared!
