Photo of 103 year old photographer (my wife's grandmother) Ata Kando. I took this in April of 2017. Ata passed away in September of 2017 just a few days shy of her 104th birthday. Ata Kandó was a Hungarian-born Dutch photographer. After divorcing her first husband, she fell in love with a 25-year-old Dutch photographer, Ed van der Elsken. The couple lived together for four years before marrying in 1954 and moving to the Netherlands. Kandó later worked as a fashion photographer, photographed refugees and travelled to the Amazon to photograph landscapes and indigenous people. The South American photographs were featured in National Geographic and some images were purchased by the British Museum and private collectors.
