Behind The Lens

Location

I took this photo in Yellow Springs, Ohio. It was at the sunflower field at Tecumseh Sunflower Field.

Time

I took this photograph mid-afternoon in late August.

Lighting

For the lighting, I took this photograph with natural lighting since it was bright and sunny out, not a cloud in the sky!

Equipment

The equipment I used was fairly simple. I used my Canon EOS 60D and my macro lens by Tamron.

Inspiration

My inspiration for taking this photograph is because I understand the importance of these little pollinators, I love them so much. They need to be recognized for how important they are and be taken care of in their natural state. Many of these places that plant flowers are not only beautiful places to take family photos every year but they help our agricultural world go round as well.

Editing

I did do some post editing. A very light editing through Photoshop CS6 Bridge RAW file edit but other than that I don’t like to heavily edit my photos. Nature is beautiful as it is.

In my camera bag

The equipment I usually carry in my bag is all of my equipment most days just encase I need it. I have quite a few lenses as well as some SD cards and my flash and batteries. The standard photo bag perfect for travel.

Feedback

My advice for others trying to capture something similar would be, do not be afraid. These beautiful creatures are not out to hurt you, they are so busy and on a mission they just want to get the pollen back to the hive. Remember that them stinging you means their life is over. That’s the last thing they want.
