I never got tired of coming around a bend and seeing large herds of Bison, also referred to as Buffalo. It reminded me of the song, Home On The Range. : ) It is sad, but once these amazing animal's numbers were vast and they were a symbol of the Great Plains. Today, the Bison are now classified as a "threatened" specie and mainly reside in protected lands. The Bison is the heaviest land animal in North America, it can tip the scale at over a ton, and range from 5 feet to 6.5 feet at the shoulder. And, even at this massive size, Bison can run up to 40 miles per hour. Yellowstone National Park, USA

Nice shot Pamela. And it surely reminds me of riding through the Black Hills on my way to Sturgis.

I tell you what... I wouldn't want to feel any of these beasts breathing down my neck as I am trying to beat Usain Bolt's record. Tele-zoom lens it is then. Great photo, Pamela!

Wonderful image and detail! You know they are also very good jumpers. They can clear a 6 foot fence easily. I used to live in Jeffery City, Wyo. when I was young. Every ones address was Home on the Range, Wyo.
