Location
I do a lot of camping and hiking in Idaho. I was walking back down the road toward camp and spotted an eagle sitting in the tree on the far side of the river. I took several shots, moving up and down the road to get a good perspective. You can tell from his look that he saw me looking!Time
This was around 1100 to 1200 in the morning. The sun was full with just a light veil of haze softening the light.Lighting
Too much light tended to wash out the bark and reflect too much from the bare limbs. I love the contrast between the sun on the needles of the pine tree and the eagle in the shade.Equipment
This was take with an Olympus E-410 with a 70-150 mm lens. I wasn't using any special filters. I shot this free-hand, leaning against a tree to steady the camera.Inspiration
I love to share the outdoors, landscapes, rivers, rocks and animals. I can do this with my photographs.Editing
As this was a tight in shot there was very little post processing involved. I zoomed and cropped to get the focus on the eagle and lightened the shadows slightly. In my camera bag
I generally pack pretty light with the 50 mm lens on the camera and a zoom lens (currently I have a Nikkon with a 50-300 mm zoom). The flash is always there, though I haven't used it a lot and I carry an assortment of filters. I have a nice tripod that I don't carry as much as I should.Feedback
Sometimes moving just a few feet in either direction (or up and down for that matter) can change the perspective enough to turn a good shot into a great shot. Take a LOT of pictures, digital images are cheap. Get as large a memory disk as your camera will take, then buy 2.
