Behind The Lens

Location

This photo was taken during my stay in one of the hotels, I was going to get my breakfast and suddenly spotted how the light from the lamp mirrored in the coffe cup.

Time

It was a morning time, but window curtains were still shut and my table lamp was on. I was going to check my e-mails and placed a coffe cup on the table nearby my laptop just under the lamp. Once I spotted how the light is mirrored in the cup, I strait a way got my camera out of the bag and moved laptop away to make this picture.

Lighting

It was one of my very first photos, which tiched me to see the light and showed me that even simple subject may look different depending on how it's lighted up.

Equipment

This photo was taken with my first camera Nikon D7100.

Inspiration

I was surprized with the way the light is spreading on the coffe surface and making dark area looking like a moon and how it's getting lighter and converts to the sun.

Editing

I had to make just a few steps in post-processing, such as make picture a bit darker and add some more brightness. After that I moved shadows point in RGB curve a bit up to add a mood and soften the picture.

In my camera bag

As I'm trying to learn something new every day and train myself again and again in photography, I always take my backpack, full of equipment, with me. Inside I have my Nikon Z6 with 24-70 mm f/4 lens, 70-300 mm lens and macro 7Artisans 60 mm f/2.8 to be prepared for any situation which may inspire me. When I'm going to shoot a portrait, I take 85 mm f/1.8 lens with me. I always take a couple of flushes and a few reflecting sheets.

Feedback

My advice for such pictures is to use any light available and always keep a few reflecting sheets in your bag, as it will help you to soften the shadows and make picture looking more beautiful.
