Behind The Lens

Location

I took this photo in the back country of Mt Baker National Park. It’s called “artists point.” It’s only accessible for about three months because of weather.

Time

This photo was taken about midday. I was walking amongst the different flowers and trees changing color as it was as early fall. It was pure magic!

Lighting

The latest lighting on this is natural. I love how the trees, path, flowers even background of the crater interplayed to create such a naturally texture story.

Equipment

Actually, I didn’t use any special equipment. I used what nature provided and what my eye saw to to create a story.

Inspiration

I was inspired the moment I saw the path of color, the back drop of a huge crater and to create a bit of mystery for the viewer as to what was beyond the next turn. One never knows in life. Beauty is found anywhere, any place and anytime. You just have to be open to it!

Editing

This may sound odd, but there was actually no major processing involved. I’m one of those photographers where I like the awesome ‘rawness’ of a photo. Especially in nature. Why destroy its very own beauty? I believe I I added a bit of definition to the path so it would stand out as a focal point.

In my camera bag

My equipment is minimal- tripods, large loop, minimal lenses, an open mind. I know this sounds so strange to most photographers, but I really believe in not over processed photos. If you can create visual beauty basically without all of the tools to change it, why bother? Artistry is my vision and equipment.

Feedback

Travel to a place where not many others go. Look at the beauty, especially in nature, at different angles, perspectives, the time of day in which you wish to capture shadows, colors, shapes, and most of all stories. Each photo should tell a story. Allow the viewer to create their own with the many textural , visual and colorful prompts you can.
