Not too far from my home there is a nature reserve which many years ago was a sand and gravel quarry, since excavations ceased and nature reclaimed the site it has become renowned for its fungi. This is a Purple Amethyst early one morning before the nights frost had melted and gone.

This is a Tenthredo species of sawfly which are semi predatory preying on another smaller and non predatory species of sawfly.
