The Gelmersee ...
has a useful volume of 13 million m³ and is located at 1850 m above sea level. M. The water comes partly from the Grimselsee (via a tunnel connection), partly from the catchment area around the Gelmersee. The Gelmersee is the 106% steepest funicular in Europe.
The Gelmer dam wall is a small 35 m high gravity dam with a volume of 81,000 m³ and a crown length of 370 m. The crown can be crossed and offers a beautiful panorama to the prospect.
Around the Gelmersee leads a white-red-white marked mountain trail. On the northern shore, the path was carved into the steep rock face. The most dangerous places are secured by ropes. Absolute surefootedness is required. A beautiful Sunday excursion into the mountains.
