Behind The Lens

Location

I took this photo at the Fort Wayne Mustang Club Show that my dad and I go to each year.

Time

When I took this photo, it was around 1 pm. It was very cloudy and rainy, so it’s hard to tell the time by looking at the photo itself.

Lighting

The day of the show, it had been raining. So the lighting wasn’t the best, until a little bit of light showed through to give some light reflection off the droplets.

Equipment

This shot was taken with a Nikon D3400. The lens I used was a Nikon 70-300mm AF-P NIKKOR.

Inspiration

Before I took this shot, I had remembered looking at some shots from this photographer on Instagram (Crvn), where he would get some angles with the headlight and hood of a car. So I was trying to find a good angle and when I did, I saw the droplets shinning in the little bit of light.

Editing

I did not, this was before I started using Lightroom.

In my camera bag

In my bag, I always have my Nikon D3400 with me. Along with my Nikon, I carry along with me my Nikon AF-P 70-300mm NIKKOR and my Nikon AF-P DX NIKKOR 18-55mm, which are my only lenses. I am saving money up for better lenses, since I am a college student wanting to pursue a career in photography.

Feedback

Rain is a fun subject to capture. Whether it’s raining or if it has just stopped, droplets can always give a unique look to your photo. Also, bringing an umbrella might help, if you don’t want your camera getting wet.
