The original (b. 1619) Spanish mission church - Saint Jerome was destroyed a second time in 1847 during the Mexican-American War. It remains a reminder of this conflict and now serves as the site of the Native American Puebloan community's cemetery. The Taos Mountains of the Sangre de Cristo Range serves as it's backdrop.
