The church's exterior finish is made of clay, water, and straw. This Spanish mission church is still an active parish. During June of each year church members and volunteers meet to inspect and repair the adobe structure, as required. It was considered, by famed photographer Ansel Adams, a classic example of Spanish architectural structures found in the New World.
