Behind The Lens

Location

The photo was taken in central Virginia, on a gorgeous farm where the horse is kept.

Time

It was taken about 15 minutes before sunset, during the golden hour.

Lighting

This specific photoshoot session was actually completed before this specific photo was taken. We were on our way back to our cars, putting the horse away for the night, and as we were walking from the main location on the farm that we shot, I saw the gorgeous light coming through the trees and asked if she would like to shoot there as well. We went in the woods, snapped about 5 photos, and headed back to the cars. It was just really good timing.

Equipment

I used my Nikon D750, and my 50mm 1.8 lens.

Inspiration

The beautiful lighting peeking through the woods caught my eye. Lighting that peeks through like that in the gorgeous golden sunlight is fairly rare, and unpredictable, so I try to take advantage of it every time I get the chance.

Editing

I did edit the lighting, contrast, and tones, but very slightly, the only element that was changed a noticeable amount would be changing the greens from a normal brighter green into a darker lush green. No Photoshop or other altering was used.

In my camera bag

I do not carry a bag, just me, my camera, and the prime lens that I keep on the camera.

Feedback

Look for sunbeams and good lighting. It can be hard to get, but when you get it and when everything lines up perfectly, take advantage of it.
