I took this photo on a solo hike up to a peak in the southern alps of New Zealand.Time
This was at around 6pm, just as the sun was setting over the peaks and sky turned to fire.Lighting
This was probably my favorite sunset that I witnessed in my five years in New Zealand. The light was incredible.Equipment
I used a Nikon D610 with a tripod.Inspiration
The sunset inspired me to take this photo. I couldn’t believe what I was seeing and had to capture it.Editing

I usually just have my camera and my tripod. I try to travel light as hiking with heavy equipment can be rough.Feedback
Travel to New Zealand and you’ll witness some of the most gorgeous sunsets and sunrises you’ve ever seen. I would also recommend hiking or traveling to places that other people don’t usually go to. To give yourself a chance to get a truly unique shot.
