The Burj Khalifa was built by the project company Emaar Properties according to the plans of architect Adrian Smith from the American architectural office Skidmore, Owings and Merrill. Since April 2008, it is the tallest building in the world, has the world's most floors and also the highest usable floor. The construction work began in 2004, in January 2009 the final height of 828 meters was reached. The building was inaugurated on 4 January 2010.
