Behind The Lens

Location

This shot was taken from "Pidurangala" the neighboring rock to sigiriya. The view is magnifiefrom up there.

Time

We hiked up the hill at around 11am, this was shot at around that time.

Lighting

The clear blue skies and the wonderful sun helped out this shot. I increased the aperture of the lens for this shot to gain more detail on the rock.

Equipment

The lens I used was a standard canon 55-250mm EF-S lens on a Canon Eos 7D. Nothing else was used, other than the natural lighting and some good luck.

Inspiration

Sigiriya is a place of heritage for all Sri Lankans and is considered as the 8th wonder of the world. It always brings a sense of pride when standing next to this marvelous creation!

Editing

Nothing much was done, other than a little bit of Lightroom to adjust brightness, highlights and contrast.

In my camera bag

I'm a person who's always on the go, so I always carry 3 lenses which cover all of my needs. A, 50mm prime, an 18-55mm and my trusty old 55-250mm. I also have my Canon Speedlight 470 Ex- AI with me for those night outs. An extra set of batteries for my camera and speedlight is also in my bag at all times, alongside my charger, extra CF card and a data transfer cable.

Feedback

Capturing Landscape a fine art by itself, try and visualize what you want to capture first and try your best to reach that goal in your head, but always be ready to capture magical moments!
