This was once the most important religious centres of the ancient World. The spiral serpent column at the right, is a replica of the original one that was taken away from this very same place, to be placed in the great hippodrome of Constantinople, by the Roman Emperor Constantin. The original one is till visible in Istanbul but fortunately, this exact replica was placed in its original position some 4 years ago.
