Behind The Lens

Location

I took this photo on Harris Grade Road just north of Lompoc, California, USA (34°43'42" N 120°26'37" W).

Time

This was taken at 0439.

Lighting

This shot was a long exposure in order to get the arching of the engines.

Equipment

I used a Canon 6D, a 14mm Rokinon lens and my tripod. It was a 145 second exposure.

Inspiration

I saw shots like this from other rocket launches which I liked so I decided to challenge myself.

Editing

I did a little post processing in Lightroom. Most of it was cropping and cleaning the noise out of the image.

In my camera bag

I carry as little as possible in my bag. Most of the time I don't even carry a bag. If I know where I am going I crab my camera and the best lens I think will work..

Feedback

The only advice I can give is plan. There is only one chance to shot this shot.
