Ribadesella is a small and charming coastal town in the Asturias region of northern Spain, centred around a fishing harbour, and split in two by the Sella river estuary. The pretty stone buildings lining the harbour walls hide another side to the town, the rugged coastal cliffs that face out to the sea. At various points along the coast you can walk down to sea level and capture scenes like this one, where the harsh rocks plunge into the ocean.

This image was shot for the Global Photo Guides travel itinerary covering an amazing route across the Biscay Coastline of northern Spain, following the ancient path of the pilgrims from Bilbao to Santiago de Compostela. In a 2-week day by day itinerary we passed through the regions of Basque Country, Asturias, Cantabria, Galacia and La Rioja, and soaked in the unique culture of each. If you love to explore and are looking for inspiration for your next trip, take a look at www.globalphotogiudes.co, where you can download a detailed PDF travel itinerary for this trip
