The historic Bat House on Sugarloaf Key was a wonderful idea that failed miserably. Perky had a multi-story bat house built and imported thousands of bats to eat all the mosquitoes. Unfortunately, the bats all left and Florida still has all its mosquitoes. Hurricane Irma blew down the structure and it has not been rebuilt.
