My wife, my two daughters and myself recently took a road trip to see Bryce Canyon, the Grand Canyon and Zion National Park. On our journey south from Bryce towards the Grand Canyon, we noticed a little tourist spot called the Moqui Cave. My wife wanted us to stop, but the rest of us wanted to push on through towards Kanab. A quarter-mile down the road we noticed some caves just up off and the highway with a couple of people in them. I figured they were connected to the Moqui Cave establishment we just passed. Much to my daughters' chagrin, and much to my wife's delight, I turned the minivan around to check out Moqui Cave. However, after we paid a nominal fee to enter Moqui Cave and hear about its history, we found out that the caves I was interested in were not part of the establishment. The person working the shop informed us that the caves were on BLM land, and we were welcome to climb up to them. So a quarter-of-a-mile down the road we pulled over, crossed the highway and climbed the hillside to get to the caves. The effort was well worth it. It became one of the top highlights of our trip; this unplanned adventure. The caves went deep into the hillside (we didn't venture too far back since we didn't have a flashlight), and there were several offshoots from the main entrance. This shot is of my daughters and my wife as the stand at the edge of an offshoot that looks across the highway to the opposite hillside.
