The imposing gateway buildings at Raglan Castle in Monmouthshire, South Wales. This was built rather late for a castle being started by Sir William ap Thomas in the 1430s. His son, Sir William Herbert, a Knight of the Garter, continued building, creating a home rather than a fortress - though it looks formidable! Young Henry Tudor - later Henry VII was sent here to be brought up as a nobleman. During the Civil War the castle was taken by Parliamentary troops and began to fall into disrepair.
