The moat winding its way between the inner walls of Raglan Castle in Monmouthshire, South Wales. The castle was built rather late, being started by Sir William ap Thomas in the 1430s. His son, Sir William Herbert, a Knight of the Garter, continued building, creating a home rather than a fortress - though it looks formidable! This was also the boyhood home of Henry Tudor, later Henry VII. During the Civil War the castle was taken by Parliamentary troops and began to fall into disrepair.
