Location
This was taken on a tour boat of Casco Bay Portland, Maine. This is Portland Head Lighthouse.Time
This was taken early afternoon during the tour.Lighting
This was all natural lighting early afternoon. No fill flash. No control of time as the tour left early afternoon.Equipment
I used a Nikon D5300 dslr, 18-300 mm lens, with a fast shutter speed to negate boat movement. Camera was handheld.Inspiration
During the tour, the director stated this was tha most photographed lighthouse in the country. The waves were crashing on the rocks. I thought how relevant as lighthouses were guides for ships to prevent hitting rocks and the shore when dark or stormy.Editing
I did some small adjustments to exposure and contrast. Mostly it was cropping to eliminate some sky, and to show more details of the lighthouse and the waves crashing on the rocks. In my camera bag
I now carry a Nikon Z50 with the adaptor for standard Nikon lenses. I carry Z lenses 16-50 mm, 50-250 mm, 18-300 mm lens using the adaptor ring. I carry Nikon D5600 as back-up camera body.Feedback
Do your research of the location you are visiting. My wife and I also like taking guided tours to get more in depth history. Understand the history of the area. Most important, if the subject moves you, take the picture. These are your memories. Do not judge against anyone else.
