Behind The Lens

Location

This photo was taken in the hamlet of Suru, Gedangsari village, Gunungkidul regency, Yogyakarta

Time

this is a moment of togetherness with the children, before they learn the basics of reading the Qur'an, activities are held every afternoon at the local mosque

Lighting

when taking this moment the first thing that comes to mind is how to be close to children, because seeing them laugh is the most beautiful moment for me. especially when they are scrambling to be photographed, maybe for children who live in this city it is normal, but for children who live in this village it is a new thing in their lives. here I can see how children grow up like in general and are not affected by smart phones, their world is only typical children's games

Equipment

the only equipment i use is a cell phone camera

Inspiration

what inspires me in this photo is the innocence of the children, behind their smiles there is a simple happiness that may have been rarely seen from children today, where many children nowadays are addicted to online games etc.

Editing

not much process was done when taking this photo, no editing at all, just directing how they pose and the exact moment when they smile.

In my camera bag

I only use the camera from my cellphone, because to buy a set of cameras and lenses I can't afford to buy them.

Feedback

the advice I can give, try to get closer to the children to know how to treat them well so that they want to be photographed without any coercion..
