After researching lunar phases and waiting for a clear sky with a new moon, I travelled to Portland (Weymouth, Dorset) and to Portland Bill Lighthouse where I've seen some Milky Way photos before. I am so pleased with this result and encouraged to go out more often to see it in more dark sky areas - usually the 10th-14th of each month around April - September. If anyone is thinking of doing it (this was taken at 2:32am) get an app called Starwalk, it's free and brilliant to see, in real time where the objects in the sky should be in your location just by pointing the phone at it. It was tricky to time this shot as the Lighthouse was spraying around 4 different beacons of light every 11 seconds! It's actually a small panorama of 5 shots to include all of the milky way, but for my second attempt i'm really happy! And surprising how busy it was there, at least 15 people there!
