Behind The Lens

Location

I took this photo in my front hall way. I had to move some furniture out of the way but the light here is so delicious.

Time

Mid morning. The light does something magical to this spot at that time of day.

Lighting

I planned out this shot to use natural lighting only in this image since it was pretty much perfect as is. Then it was enhanced in photoshop.

Equipment

At the time I was using my Nikon d750, tamron 24-70 2.8 lens set to around 50mm, and manfrotto Tripod with 405 head.

Inspiration

I was morning the loss of four family members, including both my parents, who had all passed away at right about the same time. This is my way of trying to make sense of it all.

Editing

Yes! I work with composites so I generally shoot-for-the -edit. In this image photoshop brought it all togeather. Me, the flower, the shadows and high lights, and the textures.

In my camera bag

I prefer a limited bag. These days I have a Sony a7riii, a 3 legged thing tripod, and a tamron 28-75 2.8 lens.

Feedback

Use your feelings and create from there. Close your eyes, try to visualize what your feeling would look like. Then take that image and figure out how to create it using a camera and photoshop. I challenge myself to never spend more than $10 on a shoot. It allows for maximum creativity.
