Location
Taken on a gorse marsh a few hundred yards from my home, returning from a morning walk in heavy dew with the dog. Wales has various habitats and natural features this is one of themTime
It was early as the sun was rising over the tree lineLighting
I’d spotted them on the outbound section of the walk but they were shrouded in denser fog, on my return the fog had dissipated leaving the dewdrops on the spiders creationEquipment
Canon 400D fitted with a 17-55mm macro zoom. Hand held with onboard flash disabled. 400/second shutter speed f 5.6, exposure setting on manual focus set to manual.Inspiration
The dark shadows from the woods as backdrop, with the sunlight illuminating through the dewdrops. Perfect equilibrium of the web’s tensile properties holding the precious moisture.Editing
The image was cropped to a square image, rotated to hang from the right hand side as opposed to the left, Giving it an aesthetically more pleasing balance going from light to dark with the suggestion of its location in the reeds by the single green stem it of focus in the backdrop. An attempt to draw the viewer into the web like a unwitting fly .In my camera bag
Olympus Pen E6 with two lenses. Canon 40d with standard 17- 55 zoom canon 70-300 telephoto Zoom. Manfroto tripod, gorilla pod, various UV filters lens brush, lens cloth, small hand torch and i-phone 6Feedback
Take you time, be patient with the light, envisage what you want to take then go for that shot. Practice makes perfect.
