I found myself with a lucky chance to visit the Red River National Wildlife Refuge in late May. It was a first for me and I wasn't sure what I would see. The dragonflies were the best! This female Eastern Pondhawk paused long enough for me to enjoy the details in the structure of her wings and how they attach to her body. An engineering marvel!
