Behind The Lens

Location

Black Head Beach on the New South Wales mid-north coast in Australia

Time

This photo was taken around midday.

Lighting

The main point here relighting is the position of the sun. At this time of day the sun is lighting up the front of the wave enough to give a good exposure on the face of the wave plus some good reflections of the sun on the lip.

Equipment

Camera - Sony A6500 with a Sigma 19mm f/2.8 DN Art lens in a Salted Line waterproof housing.

Inspiration

I love being in the surf break taking photos and the closer to the breaking waves the better.

Editing

Post-processing done in ACDSEE Photostudio Professional 2018

In my camera bag

I have a fairly basic amount of equipment in my camera bag. 1 x Sony A6500 1 x Sigma 19mm f/2.8 DN Art lens 1 x Sony 10-18mm F4 OSS E-Mount Lens 1 x Sony FE 70-300mm f/4.5-5.6 G OSS Lens No filters

Feedback

Shooting close up images of waves breaking is certainly not an easy operation. Definitely start off with shooting small waves & work you way up. Know your ability to handle yourself in the water. Very easy to get into trouble when you are constantly in the wave breaking zone!
