Location
I live on a 2 acre rural property with a feature dam.We are so lucky to have these Australian Native Blue Lilies that have established them selves on the Dam.Time
This shot was taken early after sunup when they really look their best.I wanted to show off the natural beauty of the flower without any saturation or colour enhancement. The inner heart of the flower seems to be on fire as it absorbs the new sun.Lighting
Sunshine early in the day highlights so many nature shots and I try to take advantage of it whenever I can.I had my eye on this flower as it first opened from a bud the day before I took the shot.Equipment
This was a handheld shot taken with my Nikon D3100 and 55-300 Nikor kit lens.Aperture 80/10 ,ISO 1oo,Focal lenght 3000/10. The shot was cropped to get the composition I wanted .No other editing was done.Inspiration
I see so many photos of these Lilys with heavily saturated colour ( some of them mine) .I really wanted to show the beautiful flower as nature presented it.This challenge award I think might ,in a small way achieved that aim.Editing
Apart from cropping and resizing there was no other editing of the original. In my camera bag
I carry my Nikon D3100 plus two kit lens,a very basic set ! I have recently added a Canon SX730 hs 40x Camera.Apart from some cleaning gear, spare batteries, and a spare card not much else.Feedback
Early in the day the wind is more likely to be light and the sun to be bright both of which are helpful when looking for flowers, insects and small birds. The fact that those conditions are also good for the soul,in my case ,make me a much more enthusiastic photographer !!
