Rover P5B parked before the impressive frontage of Grittleton House, Wiltshire, a fine English Manor House.
Made out of Bath Stone, although Cotswold Stone found its way to London for over a thousand years via rivers and canals, Bath Stone was only available when Brunel built his famous Railway in the 19th Century. Bath Stone found a ready market both nationally and in the empire. The parliamentary buildings in Cape Town, South Africa, were constructed of Bath Stone.
The industry eventually died after the second world war as artificial stone replaced natural.
Grittleton House is a fine example of Bath Stone and the Rover also represents British engineering excellent coupled with fine craftsmanship.
