Two Spur-winged Plovers (Vanellus novaehollandiae) that were looking for bugs in the grass. These birds can be very aggressive, especially when young are around, and will attack you if you get too close. They have a spur on each wing (on the 4th carpal) that they use to defend themselves or attack. Very noisy and their calls are unmistakable. When you hear it, you know there's plovers around!! They'e not afraid of people and will happily nest in a park as they would in marshland or bush.
