This photo was taken at home in Claremont, Cape Town, South Africa.Time
It was one of those beautiful summer's days in Cape Town. Hardly a breathe of wind and not too hot. I had been in the garden all morning while Tibs sunned herself in the early morning sun on the balcony upstairs. With grubby hands I walked in and saw her sitting on the stairs looking perfectly peeved as is known to do if I'm not in my office. It was a rare perfect moment. Picture taken 20 January 2018 at about 11 am.Lighting
Nature provided the perfect lighting for this picture. I couldn't have posed it better.Equipment
I didn't want to miss the moment so I grabbed the only camera I had close by which was my Samsung S5mini handset.Inspiration
Tibs is a dear little kitty that we are fostering while he mom is overseas. She is full of character and has us in stitches laughing at her little quirks. She also has inimitable expressions which leave no guessing as to what her mood is and is decidedly vocal when you don't get it. Tibs has many 'strange' poses and of all the albums saved, pictures of her number the most. It was a perfect moment which needed to be captured.Editing
I don't usually do a lot of post-processing unless it's in the artistic sense. I cropped the edges slightly and that was it.In my camera bag
I usually carry the Sony DSC-RX100 because of it's ease of use and carrying. When I set out to do more intense photography, like capturing buildings for a book I'm writing on Art Deco Architecture in Cape Town, I include the the Nikon D40x or Nikon D90.Feedback
Cape Town summers can be quite brutal. It is the time of year the South-Easter blows relentlessly. The wind is known by the locals as the 'Cape Doctor' because it blows all the air pollution normal in a city away to sea. In-between the wind stopping and the heat and smog creeping back in is usually a rare few hours when it's impossible not to fall in love with Cape Town. This was one of those rare moments.
