The turning torch is one of the old traditions of Behbahan's peoples in the month of Muharram and the mourning of Ashura. The torch's history back to many years ago when there was no electricity and modern lighting system in the cities. At the mourning night, the turner torch was moving in front of the mourners and made the way clear and Bright to them. He was actually the leader of the mourners in this dark way toward the Holy shrines and the place of mourning Today, while the streets of the city are bright by modern lamps, the torch still remain among the people, and they believe that the radiation of the light of the torch is the source of spiritual guidance and fulfillment of aspirations. In the mourning nights, the torch turner go through the houses of the people and makes good wishes for them by turning the torch in the courtyards.
