An engineer applies oil to the lovingly-restored steam locomotive 60009, Union of South Africa, an LNER Class A4 built in Doncaster in 1937. Pictured on a visit to Didcot Heritage Railway, she is one of six of the surviving iconic Gresley A4 locos. Originally called Osprey, she was renamed after the then newly formed Union of South Africa. Her springbok plaque was donated in 1954 by a Bloemfontein newspaper proprietor.
