This photo was taken at Dreamworld a local theme park on the Gold Coast, Queensland Australia, it was at a Star Wars weekend event where members of the local 501st costume group attended Dreamworld as a event to raise money for a local charity.Time
This image is one of my favourites from the event, my day started about 7am on this day I gathered my gear up and I left home just after 9am, it was about a 45 minute drive down to Dreamworld. After entering the theme park I started making my way around to the area where the members of the 501st had set up all their displays they were also walking around greeting people and posing for photos, this image would of been captured about 10.50am.Lighting
The lighting was perfect for this image as it was direct front lighting, it made capturing the details of the costume easier.Equipment
This Image was captured on a Canon EOS 700D with the EF-S 18-135mm F3.5-5.6 IS STM kit lens, hand held at 1/200 sec at F/5, ISO 100.Inspiration
Originally I was only inspired to take this photo for myself as a memory/reminder of the event however this image turned out very well I decided to share it with othersEditing
Yes I did some post processing on this image, I used Lightroom to make tiny adjustments to the white balance, exposure, contrast and a slight crop on the raw file then exported to jpgIn my camera bag
I have since upgraded my camera I now shoot with a Canon EOS 80D, I have the EF-S 18-135mm f/3.5-5.6 IS STM, EF 50mm f/1.8 STM and EF 70-300mm f/4-5.6 IS ii USM lenses with spare SD cards and spare batteriesFeedback
Unfortunately the Star Wars weekend’s no longer take place at Dreamworld here in Queensland Australia however the members of the 501st still attend other events in and about the area as well as all over the globe, they are always happy to pose for photos, you can check their website, Facebook pages to see where and when they will be attending local events, functions or conventions. I would also suggest for those like myself that are new or have always been into photography but only recently started to keep shooting, keep looking for new information/content that’s out there, keep learning also look to see if there is a local photography group in your area to join as they will have events/outings you can participate in and increase your own skills and knowledge.
