Well, thank you very much!! :) It was a foggy day, which I'd never shot before. SUPER fun to do. :)

Location
This photo was taken in the small town of Dunbar, Wisconsin. We were out in a field on this foggy day, and we found so many fun spots and props to use -- like an old truck no one used anymore.Time
I had not expected that afternoon to be foggy, but I was up to the challenge! The full engagement photo shoot turned out wonderfully, and now I wish for more foggy days to experiment with.Lighting
The vignette on this photo draws viewers into the intimate moment between these two lovebirds. I rarely use vignette anymore as it can often look amateur, but this photo worked well with the style.Equipment
I believe I shot this photo on my Nikon D3100 with a 50mm lens. I would have used as open an aperture as I could without letting things go out of focus -- this would give me a better depth of field and lend more drama to the shot. If I didn't shoot it with the 50mm, I would have shot it with my 85mm. I now use Canon instead of Nikon.Inspiration
I had been experimenting with different poses for engagement shoots, and this was a fun one to try. The couple was willing and happy to try new things, and they went for it!Editing
I edited this entire shoot to give it a rustic autumn feel.In my camera bag
I have the most beautiful camera bag from Ona that I recently received for my birthday. The color is called Smoke, and the bag sports beautiful dark brown leather straps. I use Canon now, and I usually carry with me my Canon 6D camera body, a 50mm f/1.8 lens, and my favorite, the 35mm f/1.4 lens from Sigma. I will often rent lenses when I shoot weddings: such as the EF 70-200mm f/2.8L IS II or the EF 135mm f/2L.Feedback
If you are just getting into photography, don't be afraid to just go shoot things! The best way to learn is to do, and I highly encourage capturing every moment you can to grow your skills and abilities. Snag your friends and ask them to model for you -- easy portfolio material! I have grown my business from being open to shoot anything, and now that my business has blossomed, I can be more picky with what I shoot. You'll eventually feel like you control more of your time and energy, and that's an empowering feeling. But you have to start somewhere, so get out there and go!
