A Blue Banded Bee (Amegilla cingulata). One of our native bees that is responsible for the pollination of around 30% of Australia's crops. The bands on its abdomen range in colour from an off-white (like this bee), to a brilliant blue. Has 4-5 of these bands. Mainly a solitary bee, but they do swarm is small numbers when flowers are open.
