Location
This photo was taken in the Florence/Coolidge area of Arizona. Every Sunday I drive up from Tucson where I live and work to meet up with family in San Tan Valley/Queen Creek. If you go the back way you drive by all kinds of farm land. The crops change with the seasons from corn which you see here to cotton, alfalfa, hay etc.Time
This photo was taken mid morning around 9am on one of my Sunday drives to meet with family on a late Spring day in May of this year.Lighting
By the time this photo was taken the sun was already high in the sky and bright. This lighting provided great color as it shined down through the green leaves and offered great contrast from the shadows on the dirt ground.Equipment
All of my photos are taken from a smartphone camera. Currently I use a Samsung Galaxy S8+, which is 12mp's and has OIS. No other equipment was used, no tripods or external lighting etc. Just the phone and myself.Inspiration
As I drive past the farm lands once a week through the seasons you see how the scenery changes from one crop to another from seedlings, to final crop and everything in-between. As a landscape photographer you become more aware of these changes. For a while I had wanted to capture this beauty so on one of my trips I decided to pull off the side of the highway and sneak in and take some photos. As a child my father took me all around Arizona on various camping and hiking trips as he tried to get some of his work shown in Arizona Highways magazine as he enjoyed landscape and wildlife photography. That passion of my father's became a passion of my own and has only grown as I have gotten older. Through photography I am able to keep this part of my childhood that I treasure close.Editing
As I do not use a dedicated camera I do not use any high end post processing software like Adobe Photoshop. But, I do use the editing that's available through Instagram where I post these. No filters were used, but I usually play with lux, structure, brightness, warmth, saturation, highlights, shadows, vignette and tilt shift. In my camera bag
As I only work with a smartphone my equipment usually is just my phone, a protective case and a charging bank if I know I will be away from a power source for a while. And if I am going to be gone for days I also bring my Brunton solar roll solar panel to trickle charge my battery bank and phone. The panel is as thin as a poster board, is laminated so is waterproof which makes it perfect for hiking as you can attach it with a carabineer to the outside of your backpack so things can charge as you hike or drape it over your tent or even attach it to the top of your kayak without any worry!Feedback
If someone is trying to get a similar photo I would recommend they pick a bright day and to go in the corn field early on before the crops are fully grown as when the stalks are still closer to the ground it creates this tunnel like effect between the rows.
