This low-growing shrub ground cover gets to about 1-foot tall; it is widespread across the western U.S in pine and mixed-conifer forests. The leaves are evergreen, and are holly-like, with spine-tipped lobes. The pretty yellow flowers become dense clusters of ble-purple berries - hence the name Oregon-grape.
