Behind The Lens

Location

This shot was taken in Texarkana, Texas.

Time

This was taken in July around 2 PM. It was so hot out!

Lighting

This is a natural light shot. The sun was super bright so I used a really fast shutter speed.

Equipment

This was shot with a Sony A6000 with a 50mm 1.8.

Inspiration

This was the first time I had ever shot with this model, and we both love abandoned buildings. So, we went to an abandoned train station and hotel that she knew. We had finished at the first location and were cooling off some before heading to the next location. On a whim, I pulled the camera up, she automatically posed, and I got the shot. This happens to me a lot where my most unplanned photos always turn out the best.

Editing

I try to keep my editing to a minimum because I like the natural look. I use Lightroom for a good portion of my editing.

In my camera bag

I always have my Sony A6000 with my favorite prime lens, which is a Sony FE 50mm 1.8. I also carry a 20mm lens. There is usually a speedlight in there as well because you just never know when you'll need it.

Feedback

I have learned to always be looking out for great spots to shoot in. However, if it is shot right you can usually make any location work.
