Behind The Lens

Location

the Doña Josefa Waterfalls is located in Ipil, Zamboanga Sibugay and is connected to a protected local watershed. I had to follow a 1-kilometre trail to get to this location since it was raining early in the morning, it was a bit slippery.

Time

This image was taken during the morning but the weather was not cooperating, it was slightly raining that time, fortunately, my gears are weather sealed. I had little time in taking the photo since it might rain hard, and there are no shelters near and also I was worried that I might not make it across the river if the rain pours hard.

Lighting

No lighting equipment was used on this photo, it was all natural light, and the light was not very good, it was hazy.

Equipment

I used a Fujifilm X-T2 with an XF 18-55mm f2.8-4 lens mounted on a Benro tripod and using cheap ND filters that I borrowed from a friend. Funny thing is that I had no available mount, so improvised by using rubber bands to hold the 2 NF Filters I was using.

Inspiration

This place was a potential eco-tourism site for our town. Only a few people know about this place and they are mostly the locals around the area. With this photo, I was hoping I could show our townfolks and let them know that we have a hidden gem in our very own town.

Editing

Photos were in raw format and I had the post-processing done on Lightroom CC, the cheap ND filters were showing a lot of green tints, thankfully I was able to balance it out

In my camera bag

I use a Lowepro Sling Bag which includes my Fujifilm X-T2, XF 18-55mm F2.8-4, XF 35mmf2, Variable NF Filter, CPL Filter, Godox T350f, extra camera batteries and extra memory cards.

Feedback

Honestly, I wish the shot was a bit wider, but I was already at the farthest position I could set-up my camera and tripod. So I had to make use of what I had at the moment.
