Behind The Lens

Location

This was actually taken at a thrift store in Dayton, OH. I am always looking for interesting and out of the ordinary things to capture and point out wherever I go. I am a musician, so I am generally attracted to older instruments whenever I see them.

Time

Originally taken on a weekend afternoon while out looking around different shops.

Lighting

Just normal overhead fluorescent bulbs in the store.

Equipment

This was actually taken with my Samsung Galaxy S6. I love my Nikons, but it's awfully handy to have my phone camera with me constantly.

Inspiration

Being a bass player, I loved wording of the knob on this old organ. That coupled (no pun intended) with my love of old items made this an obvious thing that I needed to capture.

Editing

Minor processing was done to the original. Boosting of the lights / darks & boosting the saturation a little bit.

In my camera bag

This was from a few years ago and my old phone, a Samsung Galaxy S6. When I have my actual gear with me, I have a Nikon D300 and a Nikon D90, and usually a Nikon 7.5mm Fisheye, Sigma 10-20mm, Nikon 18-105mm (kit lens that I actually love), Nikon 50mm, Nikon 70-200mm. If they're needed, I will bring along a Nikon 70-300mm of Tamron 150-600mm.

Feedback

Always be on the lookout for interesting things wherever you are! Some of my favorite photos I've ever taken are of random things I've seen while out and about, or of everyday objects from odd angles.
